The Letus Talon DSLR cage has a releasable camera plate along with a sliding / removable top bridge. The camera plate can be attached from the bottom or the front of the cage for easy camera removal when transporting. The top bridge can slide on standard 15mm diameter rods. The rods included on the top of the side risers are female threaded front and back so you can add any length of support rods you need to accommodate your top bridge setup. Because the top bridge can slide forward and backward, it makes for a very versatile DSLR rig that is easy to balance. The top bridge can also be quick released for break down and storage.
The bottom of the DSLR cage is ported for battery access on the Canon 5DmkII and Canon 7D. Although the cage will work with other DSLR cameras, this particular model is geared toward the Canon 5D and 7D models. Extended side risers are available if you are using the Canon 1D Mark IV or other, taller, DSLR cameras.
The entire DSLR cage is CNC milled from billet aluminum and black anodized for durability. Each standard 1/4 20 threaded mounting hole is lined with stainless steel helicoils. This prevents threads from stripping out which can happen quite easily on purely aluminum threads. We use industry standard threads for easy mounting of all accessories. There is no need to buy additional, expensive clamps and arms to mount accessories to the cage as you will find on some other solutions. Most accessories are designed for standard thread mounting so you can directly attach them to the Letus DSLR cage without spending more money on specialty mounting devices.
